Creed

“This truth comes to us more and more, the longer we live, that in what field, or in what uniform, or with what aims we do our duty, matters very little; or even what our duty is, great or small, splendid or obscure, only to find our duty certainly and somewhere, somehow do it faithfully, makes us good, strong, happy and useful, and tunes our lives into some feeble echo of the life of God.”

~Phillips Brooks

History

Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity is a gender inclusive professional fraternity in the field of music with collegiate chapters established throughout the United States and abroad. The fraternity was founded in 1909 at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music by three undergraduate students. The Founders were Hazel Wilson, Lorena Creamer, and Mabel Dunn. Delta Omicron is the only organization of its kind founded by students for students. From 1909 to the present, twenty-six Delta Omicron national presidents have guided the fraternity to achieve and fulfill its purposes and objectives.

Delta Tau

Delta Tau Chapter was founded on February 6, 1954 at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. The chapter has been in continuous existence since its founding. The members of the chapter are active in music in its various forms at the College. There is a rush process that is open to all interested active musicians at the College.

Every semester, our chapter contributes funds toward scholarships for applied music students to be awarded by members of the applied music faculty on the basis of talent and financial need. Our chapter is also a founding parent organization of Sinfonicron, the student-run Light Opera Company, which has put on a production every January since 1965. We are working on a variety of projects and musicales designed to support and aid our Music Department.

In addition, we have a standing offer to critique musical acts working toward a competition at a performance during one of our Sunday night meetings. (Please contact our Musicale Director, Megan Rouch (marouch@email.wm.edu), if you would like a critique.) Our members are also available to usher musical performances, such as concerts or recitals, throughout the year. (Please contact our President, Kika Sahai (ksahai@email.wm.edu), if you would like ushers.)
