Pledging

Interested in joining the Delta Tau Chapter? First, we invite you to either contact us or to attend any or all of our rush week events, held near the beginning of every semester. When the time comes, the rush events will be advertised on the bulletin board in the lobby of Ewell Hall. It is recommended that you attend at least two rush week events to be considered for a bid from the Delta Tau Chapter. If you are extended a bid, we invite you to begin your pledge process. Both the rush requirements and the pledge process are outlined below.

The Pledge Process

The pledging process for Delta Tau lasts six weeks. There will be one weekly meeting during the first five weeks in which prospective members will learn the history and purpose of Delta Omicron. This is also a time for prospective members to become better acquainted with the Chapter. The Pledge Master/Mistress, who is the First Vice President of the Chapter, is responsible for making sure all prospective members learn the material in their Pledge Manuals and adhere to Chapter expectations. During the six-week period, prospective members are required to wear a Delta Omicron pin. Additionally, before the pledging process is completed, prospective members are expected to pay their required dues, which usually amount to about $150.

During the final weekly meeting, prospective members will take the Delta Omicron Knowledge Exam, which incorporates all of the information in the Delta Omicron Pledge Manuals. Upon successful completion of the exam and a group project, the prospective members will embark upon the sixth and final week of the pledging process: Clue Week. Each prospective member’s anonymous “big” plans a week of gifts and activities designed to welcome and introduce you, their “little,” to the fraternity brothers.

Clue Week ends in Initiation into the fraternity. Following the Initiation ritual, prospective members present their musicale. Finally, at the end of the ceremony, each new member’s big brother is revealed.

If you have any other questions, please email our First Vice President Ally Brimmer at anbrimmer@email.wm.edu.
